Top Tips to Know Before Heading to Vegas

There is a few things I’ve noticed that has changed in Las Vegas lately. Here is a few things I wish I had known before I went back to Vegas last time. 1. Bring your cash instead of using the ATMs. It now costs between $8 and $10 fee to use the ATMs in the casinos. 2. Always use your safe and lock everything up you value. There is so much theft in all the hotels now, you just can’t trust anyone. Always latch the door from inside when your sleeping. There has been many claims of people sneaking in while guests sleep and stealing wallets, purses, cell phones and jewelry right off nightstands while sleeping. There is a lot of claims of this at The Rio but thats probably not the only hotel. 3. After the shooting in Vegas, security is careful when it comes to guests not getting maid service. You can ask for no maid service for your privacy. Maybe your not feeling well or just don’t like anyone entering your room. If you request this, security will enter your room and look around. There have been many complaints about security letting themselves in while people are there and insisting on checking things out. It’s unfortunately the way of the times. They do it everywhere now in every hotel in Vegas. Please remember they are doing what is necessary to try and keep the same thing from happening again. 4. Cabs are very expensive now. Because Uber and Lyft are in full action now it has costed the cab companies a huge amount of business, so it is very expensive to catch a cab now. I suggest using Uber , Lyft ,shuttle or bus to get around in Las Vegas. It used to be you could catch a cab from the airport to you hotel for around $15 plus tip. Now it will cost you $30 to $40 for a cab. I now use a shuttle to and fro airport. It costs $17.50 round trip and all you have to do is catch it from airport and call the day before your return flight and let them know your pickup time. I also love The Duece Bus. It costs $8 for 24 hours . It runs up and down the strip and you can just jump on and off. Saves a lot of walking. It can take awhile if your going from one end to the other some days. 5. Always use your players card when gambling at a casino. Not only will you get some free play but you’ll get offers for free rooms, meal comps and you can compare for yoyr next trip. When playing table games always pocket your bigger chips so the pit bosses see your losing instead of winning. They give you points based on how much your losing, so if you hit a good hand put those colored chips in your pocket. You can even use your points for the gift shops and coffee places. 6. Always check your charges on your credit card used at checkout. Not everyone is honest about tips in some places. Also sometimes extra charges get accidentally put on. Always keep receipts and double check charges. Sometimes it may take a week for the actual charges to show final balances but always check them. Always ask to be emailed a receipt at checkout for final charges and the following week check your statements for accuracy. I have had to call twice to get charges removed. Not sure if they’re banking on people not checking or if it just happens. 7. Always ask at checkout for your charges to be comped. I always charge everything to the room and at the end of my stay they will evaluate play and comp what they can. It never hurts to ask. Remember that if you don’t gamble much, they probably won’t do much but if you gamble pretty heavily while staying, they should take care of it all for you, if not I suggest staying elsewhere next visit. The only charges on your bill at the end of your stay, should be tips. If I don;t receive comps like that I don’t stay again. Keep these things in mind on yoyr next trip to Vegas and save some money for funner things!
